MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo Athletic department has announced upgrades to Old Gym, the student-athlete weight room.
Recently, the strength and condition team has doubled its capacity with the addition of six new double-sided racks. Old Gym now has 12 total racks, allowing for multiple teams to work out simultaneously.
More space in the facility is being utilized now with the addition of added turf that provides an additional 2,500 square feet of space for various uses.
These upgrades provide the strength and condition staff with more flexibility and the ability to be more efficient with scheduling.
"These upgrades are going to be essential in our ability to effectively train all our teams," said Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Blake Klotz, "We can now train multiple teams at the same time, something we have not been able to do previously."
"With over 600 athletes, expanding the weight room was a must on our list," said Vice President for Athletics and Special Programs
Mark Richard. "Thank you to our donors and university administration for helping us continue to excel and provide one of the best weight rooms in Division II."
