MONTEVALLO, Ala. – For the second time this season, University of Montevallo Men's Cross Country standout Zak Ferguson has been named Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week on Wednesday Oct. 15. 

Ferguson continued his freshman campaign with another standout performance at the UAH Chargers XC Invitational in Huntsville, Ala., where he finished ninth overall in a highly competitive field. The Freshman finished with a personal best time of 24:38.50, marking the second fastest 8K time in program history, surpassing his own previous mark set earlier this season. 

His time not only led the Falcons but also made him the top freshman finisher in the race, which featured several Gulf South Conference teams. Ferguson's effort helped Montevallo to a 12^th place team finish out of 26 teams. 

This is Ferguson's second Freshman of the Week honor, having previously earned the recognition after winning the Falcon Classic.
