MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Montevallo men's and women's cross-country teams competed at the 2025 Gulf South Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 25, at Shelby Farms in Memphis, Tenn. 
The women started their 6K at 8:00 a.m., followed by the men's 8K afterwards. The Gulf South Conference is highly competitive; the Falcons highlighted many personal records and top 20 individual finishes. 
 
Montevallo Men
The Montevallo men's team capped their conference campaign with a seventh place finish out of 11 teams, scoring 189 points and finishing ahead of West Florida, Christian Brothers, Trevecca Nazarene, and Valdosta State
Freshman 
Zak Ferguson continued his breakout season with another outstanding run, placing sixth overall with a personal-best time of 24:13.4, the second fastest 8K in Montevallo program history and top freshman finisher of the meet.
Joshua Howard followed in 49th place with a PR of 26:10.9, while 
Ryan Cox also notched a personal best of 26:13.9 to take 55th. 
Estan Wrights (63rd, 26:37.0) and 
Zac Lamb (78th, 27:14.5) rounded out the scoring five.
There were many Falcons personal records on the course, underscoring the team's steady improvement throughout the fall.
 
Montevallo Women
The Falcon women put together an impressive team effort, finishing ninth overall out of 12 teams with 229 points, topping West Alabama, Valdosta State, and Delta State in the standings.
Sophomore 
Sable George led the way with a standout performance, placing 21st overall in a personal-best 21:59.6. 
Ava Taylor followed close behind in 41st (22:46.3), while 
Morgan Remley continued her strong sophomore campaign with a 55th place finish in 23:44.2.
Rounding out the scoring five were 
Breanna Aultman in 63rd (24:06.1) and 
Olivia Blackmon in 73rd (24:43.0), both setting new personal bests.
With every runner achieving a PR, the women's squad demonstrated its depth and upward trajectory heading into the NCAA South Regional meet.
