MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo wrestling team continues its 2025-26 campaign on Saturday as it heads to Douglasville, Ga., for the Lucha Open, hosted by Life University.

The Falcons enter the weekend with momentum after an impressive Conference Carolinas sweep over Mount Olive and Ferrum on Tuesday. UM powered past the Trojans 29-20 behind five bonus-point victories before rolling to a 42-11 win over Ferrum to close out the night at 2-0.

Montevallo now sits at 4-1 in dual action heading into Saturday's tournament. The Falcons are coming off a strong performance at last weekend's King Open, placing eight overall as Luke Berguson (165) and Colt Brown (141) led the way with fourth-place finishes.

UM also found success at last season's Life Open, where the Falcons placed four and collected 45 total wins. Noah Smith highlighted the outing with a runner-up finish, while Willie Cox added a third-place result and Nick Dempsey secured eighth at 149.
