GREENVILLE, S.C. – Jordan Weltzin has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Wrestling Freshman of the Month for November, the league announced Friday.
The Alabaster, Ala., native delivered an impressive start to his Montevallo career, finishing the month with a 12-7 record that included three major decisions, one tech fall, and two pins. In his collegiate debut, Weltzin recorded four wins at the Pepsi Patriot Open to place fourth in the 141-pound Freshman/Sophomore Division, highlighted by a 23-8 tech fall over Xavier Garrett (Indiana Tech) in the opening round.
Weltzin added four more victories at the King Open, earning his first career pin in 1:52 over Sebastian Cambray (Liberty) on his way to a sixth-place finish at 141. He closed the month with a runner-up showing in the Silver Division at the Lucha Open, winning four straight bouts, including a fall over Logan Chornoby in 2:44.
