NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Montevallo softball team dropped a close contest in its series opener at Trevecca Nazarene, falling 2-0 on Friday afternoon.
Taylor Lloyd was solid in the circle for the Falcons, pitching her fifth complete game of the season. The junior allowed two runs (one earned) and six hits, while striking out three in six innings of work.
The Falcons struggled to find success offensively, only recording two hits throughout the contest.
After the game remained scoreless through the first four innings, the Trojans scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a, 2-0, lead.
Montevallo looked to rally in the top of the seventh, as
Molly Pendley reached on an error and
Kiley Christopher and
Skylar Johnson reached on fielder's choices to load the bases with no outs. The Falcons were unable to push any runs across, as Trevecca took home the 2-0 victory to open the series.
