BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Montevallo track and field teams had a strong showing in the opening outdoor meet of the season, leading to three Falcons capturing weekly honors from the Gulf South Conference.
Emily Wolf and
Gabe Gamble were named Field Athletes of the Week, while
Slate Rohrer was named Freshman of the Week on the men's side.
Wolf had a strong start to outdoor season, as the sophomore earned a pair of first place finishes at the UWA Invitational on Saturday. The sophomore captured those first-place finishes in the Discus Throw (44.24m) and the Hammer Throw (46.71m).
Gamble opened the outdoor season with a pair of top-five finishes on Saturday. The junior placed first overall in the Triple Jump (14.49m) and fifth in the Long Jump (6.31m).
Rohrer had a solid outing in his first collegiate outdoor meet, earning a pair of top-five finishes. The freshman placed first overall in the 110m Hurdles with a time of 14.91. Rohrer was also part of the Montevallo Men's 4x100m Relay team which finished fifth with a time of 44.16.
The Falcons return to action on Friday, March 14, for the Falcon Classic and Multi.
