MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo wrestling's
Jake Chisolm and
Colt Brown remained ranked for their performances at the NCAA Division Super Region II championships.
Colt Brown and
Jake Chisolm both will go into nationals ranked 15th in their respective weight classes by theopenmat.com for Division II.
Colt Brown moves up to 15th
after being ranked 19th in the previous ranking. Brown placed second in the 125-weight class at regionals. His wins at regionals included a 14-7 decision over Tyson Upchurch of King and an 8-6 decision over Corey Gallivan of Coker who is now ranked 17
th by theopenmat.com. Brown will be the first 125 in program history to make it to the National Championships and will sport an 18-6 record.
Jake Chisolm remains 15th in the 165-weight class after placing third at regionals to become Montevallo's first 165 to make it to the National Championships. His regional appearance included a 20-2 tech fall over Newberry's Nick Humphrys, an 8-3 decision over King's Joe Bertrand, his fastest fall of the season over Christian Arrington in 1:40 and a 14-13 decision over UNC Pembroke's Will Lowery. Chisolm will heads to nationals with 20 wins on the season.
