The Warhawks threatened in the bottom half of the third, putting a pair of runners in scoring position. Madison Fargo ended the threat, turning a crucial double play to keep AUM off the scoreboard in the frame.

The Warhawks added to its lead in the bottom of the fifth, as a solo home run extended the advantage to 2-0.

Montevallo looked to rally in the top of the seventh, down to its final three outs. Emma Hawkins got things started with a leadoff single and Bentlee Stiner followed that up with a walk. Molly Pendley ultimately hit a huge two-RBI double to score both runners and tie the game, 2-2, in the top of the seventh.

Rachel Whiddon entered the circle in the bottom of the seventh and sat the Warhakws down in order, sending the game to extra innings.

Madison Fargo opened the top of eighth with a single, putting the go-ahead run on first for UM. After a pair of sacrifice-groundouts, Fargo scored on a wild pitch to give the Falcons a 3-2 lead.

Taylor Lloyd entered the circle in the bottom of the eighth, looking to pick up the save. The Warhawks got the tying run in scoring position, but a strikeout from Lloyd would end the game and secure the 3-2 victory for Montevallo.
