Falcon Earn IWLCA Academic Honor Squad, Eight Falcons Named to IWLCA Honor Roll

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has announced its 2025 Academic Honor Squads and the Academic Honor Roll with Montevallo earning the team award and eight Falcons named to the honor roll.

The Falcons earned the IWLCA Academic Honor Squad honor with a 3.57 cumulative GPA for the 2024-25 academic year. Montevallo joins a total of 383 programs across all three NCAA divisions and NAIA that met the 3.2 GPA or higher to earn the distinction of Academic Honor Squad.
 
Mikaela Barbieri, Kiarra Crawford, Delany Deffke, Amber Lynch, Chloe Norman, Jenna Piazza, Madison Sobolewski and Claire Withington all earned spots on the IWLCA Honor Roll.
 
Barbieri, a junior attacker out of Atlanta, Ga., earned the honor with a 3.78 GPA in pursuit of her exercise science degree while starting in all 15 games for the Falcons with a total of 30 points on 16 goals and 14 assists. Crawford was named to the honor roll with a 3.55 GPA as a political science major while starting every game during 2025 and adding nine ground balls. Deffke, a senior defender, garnered the academic honor as a marketing major with a 4.0 GPA while being a staple on the Falcons' defense with 13 starts and 14 appearances with a total of 13 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Lynch, a senior midfielder from Louisville, Ky., earned the academic award with a 3.76 GPA as a communication studies major while adding 12 points on eight assists and four goals with 12 draw controls on the season. Norman earned the academic recognition with a 3.75 GPA as a Data Analytics major while adding 20 draw controls and eight goals in her 13 appearances. Piazza, a senior out of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, tallied a 4.0 GPA as a biology major who tallied 16 points on 10 goals and six assists while adding 13 ground balls in her 12 appearances. Sobolewski found her way onto the honor roll with a 3.8 GPA as an exercise science major while appearing in 15 games and recording 20 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. Finally, Withington posted a 4.0 GPA as a junior chemistry major while scoring 42 points on 31 goals and 11 assists with a pair of game-winning goals in her 15 starts in 2025.
