BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Montevallo track and field teams had a solid day, with multiple top-ten finishes at the Samford Invitational on Friday.
Adam Byrne opened the day by completing the Heptathlon, as his final three events solidified a point total of 4252 to earn a seventh place finish overall.
On the men's side, Corey Perkins had the highest individual place finish of the day, placing fifth in the High Jump with a jump of 1.92m. Eran Foye Jr. and Jack Pesarchick both earned jumps of 1.92m, tying for seventh. Perkins earned another high finish in the Long Jump, placing seventh with a jump of 6.71m.
Drew Cheslock placed tenth in the Triple Jump, placing seventh in the Triple Jump with a jump of 13.55m, while Marquis Trainer placed tenth (12.98m).
Christopher Johnson led the way for the throwers, placing ninth in the Weight Throw with a throw of 16.19m, while Caleb Newell placed 11th with a throw of 16.05m. Jeremiah Fails led the way on the track, placing 12th in the 200m with a time of 21.94.
A pair of men set personal records in Eran Foye Jr. (60m Hurdles – 8.80) and Jeremiah Fails (400m – 49.95).
On the women's side, Cesleigh Martin earned the highest place finish, placing 11th in the Shot Put with a throw of 11.71m. Natania Nasieku led the way for the jumps, placing 12th in the Triple Jump with a jump of 10.74m.
Ka'Mya Jackson led the way on the track for the women, placing 20th in the 400m with a time of 59.92.
Kiliyah Taylor also had a solid day on the track, setting a pair of personal records in the 60m (8.18) and the 200m (27.10). Makayla Amador also set a personal record in the 200m with a time of 27.68.
Montevallo closes the weekend with the Samford Open on Saturday.
