MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo wrestling team returns to action for the first time in 2026 on Sunday, traveling to Montgomery for the Hawk Classic. Competition is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
OFFICIAL SCHEDULE
The Falcons closed the 2025 portion of the season at the Midwest Classic prior to the holiday break. Cole Hunt turned in a seventh-place finish at 125 pounds and earned a No. 7 national ranking from the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA). Max Stedeford also advanced to the final day of competition in Indianapolis and currently holds a No. 15 national ranking.
A total of 10 teams will compete in Sunday's event, with several familiar opponents in the field. Joining Montevallo are Huntingdon, Keiser, Life (NWCA), Life University, Lindsey Wilson, McMurry, Montreat, Schreiner and Truett McConnell.
Montevallo had three wrestlers place in last season's Hawk Classic. Daniel McEntyre placed sixth at 125 pounds, Chad Strickland won four bouts to finish sixth in the 141-pound bracket, and Sam Euceda-Torres added a sixth-place finish at 197.
