GREENVILLE, S.C. – Montevallo wrestling's Cole Hunt was named the Conference Carolinas Wrestler of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. The honor marks the second time this season Hunt has received the distinction, having previously earned the award on Nov. 4.
Hunt recorded his team-leading 28th win of the season last Monday, earning a 6-3 decision over The Open Mat's No. 16 Kaden Kuenzi in the Falcons' dual against No. 15 Lander. The victory capped a strong regular season for Hunt, who finished with a 28-2 overall record and a perfect 12-0 mark in dual matches.
The Sugar Valley, Ga., native also leads Montevallo with 15 pins on the season.
Hunt and the Falcons will be back in action this Sunday, Feb. 15, at the Conference Carolinas Championship. Montevallo will open postseason competition against East No. 1 seed and 24th-ranked UNC Pembroke in the semifinals, beginning at 10:00 a.m. CT.
