MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo softball team heads to Columbus, Ga., this weekend to play four games in the Cougar-Hurricane Classic.
The Falcons will face off against Eckerd and Mars Hill on Friday (Feb. 13), before closing the weekend with games against Converse and Mount Olive on Saturday (Feb. 14).
Montevallo holds an overall record of 7-1 on the season, after sweeping a doubleheader against Miles last time out. Against the Lady Bears,
Becca Benton led the way with four hits, three home runs, and eight RBIs through two games.
Bentlee Stiner totaled three hits with one of those being a home run.
Emma Hawkins and
Madison Fargo also hit home runs on the day. Four Falcon pitchers combined to allow one run in ten innings pitched.
On the season,
Ariana Pinder has a team leading .455 batting average, while Stiner holds team leads in hits (12), RBIs (14), runs scored (11), and stolen bases (five). Stiner and Benton are tied for a team leading-four home runs.
Taylor Lloyd leads the way in the circle, holding a perfect 5-0 record. Lloyd posts a 1.62 ERA, while recording 32 strikeouts in 30.1 innings pitched.
Berkley Mooney and
Kinsley Byrd each have one win on the season.
Eckerd enters the week with a 2-2 record. The Tritons dropped a doubleheader against then-No. 25 Oklahoma Christian, before rebounding with a pair of wins over Webber International. Hannah Taylor leads the way for the Tritons at the plate, holding team leads in batting average (.471), hits (eight), and RBIs (five). In the circle, Elise Roy posts a 2.33 ERA in 12 innings pitched and Brandilyn Reymer posts a 3.00 ERA in 14 innings pitched.
Mars Hill holds an overall record of 5-1, with its only loss coming against Clark Atlanta. Bri Weimer leads the way at the plate with a .450 batting average, nine hits, and eight RBIs. Kamryn Atkins (2-0) leads the way in the circle, allowing no runs and recording 20 strikeouts through 14 innings.
Converse enters the week with a 1-5 record. The Valkryies lone win of the season came against Clark Atlanta. Aubree Leonard has the highest batting average on the team (.455), while Tyler Karabach holds a team leading-nine hits. Gracee Stucki (1-3) has seen the most time in the circle, posting an 8.78 ERA in 18.1 innings pitched.
Mount Olive holds an overall record of 3-5. The Trojans picked up three wins last weekend over USC Aiken and Lenoir-Rhyne (twice). Emma King leads the way at the plate with a .417 batting average and ten hits. Emma Myatt leads the way in the circle with a 1.47 ERA in 14.1 innings pitched.
First pitch for Montevallo is set for 3:30 p.m. CST, on Friday.
