Falcons Place Five on All-Conference Carolinas Teams

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas Wrestling All-Conference teams were announced Friday, with five Falcons earning recognition for their performances during the 2025-26 season. Cole Hunt headlined the group with First Team honors at 125 pounds. Max Stedeford (149) and Willie Cox (285) were named to the Second Team, while Kaden Brown (141) and Carson Freeman (157) earned Third Team distinction.

Hunt secured First Team accolades after compiling a dominant 28-2 overall record, including a perfect 12-0 mark in dual competition. He recorded 15 pins and five major decisions while going 4-2 against NWCA-ranked opponents. Ranked No. 7 nationally by the NWCA since December, Hunt opened the season with 17 straight victories and currently carries an eight-match winning streak. He led the Falcons in both total team points (119.5) and dual points (64). Hunt was named Conference Carolinas Wrestler of the Week twice (Nov. 4, Feb. 10) and claimed tournament titles at 125 pounds at both the Pepsi Patriot Open and the Georgia Open. He also placed seventh at the Midwest Classic.

Stedeford earned Second Team honors after finishing 22-4 overall and 10-1 in dual matches. He ranked second on the team with 82.5 total points and posted a 3-2 record against NWCA-ranked opponents. Stedeford tallied 10 pins, a team-high seven technical falls. and one major decision. He tied a program record for fastest fall with a nine-second pin of Gavin Coleman (Brewton-Parker) at the Georgia Open. Stedeford captured the 149-pound Open Division title at the Pepsi Patriot Open, was ranked No. 15 nationally by the NWCA from October through January, and earned Conference Carolinas Wrestler of the Week honors on Feb. 3.

Cox was named to the Second Team following a 23-10 overall record and a 9-4 dual mark. He earned two wins over NWCA-ranked NAIA opponents, defeating No. 18 Ian Clifford (Indiana Tech) and No. 25 Phillip Terrell (Truett McConnell). Cox recorded 10 pins and two major decisions, with his fastest fall coming in 30 seconds against Trey White of Cumberlands (Ky.). He was one of four Falcons to eclipse the 20-win mark this season.

Brown claimed Third Team honors after posting a 21-10 overall record, including a 9-3 mark in dual competition. He registered three major decisions, five technical falls and a pin in 1:04. Brown finished as the runner-up at 141 pounds at the Pepsi Patriot Open and placed sixth at the Georgia Open.

Freeman rounded out the honorees with Third Team recognition after compiling a 19-8 overall record and a 10-2 dual mark. He ranked third on the team with 50 dual points and recorded three pins, five technical falls, and a team-leading six major decisions. Freeman also paced the Falcons with 64 takedowns on the year.

The Falcons return to action Sunday in the semifinal round of the Conference Carolinas Championship, where they will face No. 24 UNC Pembroke. Action is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. CT.
