BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A dominant week for Montevallo Softball led to the Falcons sweeping the third set of Gulf South Conference weekly awards. Becca Benton was named Player of the Week; Taylor Lloyd was named Pitcher of the Week and Taylor Rogers was named Freshman of the Week.

Benton had a stellar week, posting a .647 batting average and 1.765 slugging percentage through six games. The senior totaled 11 hits, 16 RBIs, six home runs, and eight runs scored. Benton recorded four multi-hit games and two multi-home run games. Her best game came against Converse where she went 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs. She went 2-for-2 against Miles with two home runs and five RBIs.

Lloyd was dominant in the circle this week, going a perfect 3-0, while only allowing one earned run in 18 innings pitched. The senior recorded 21 strikeouts and held an opponent batting average of .167. Lloyd tossed a pair of complete games in the Cougar-Hurricane Classic in winning efforts against Eckerd and Mount Olive. Lloyd made history this week, as she became the Montevallo All-Time Career Wins Leader, after picking up her 42nd career win against Eckerd.

Rogers had a strong week, posting a .500 batting average, .813 slugging percentage, and .556 on-base percentage through six games. The freshman totaled eight hits, seven RBIs, seven stolen bases, two doubles, one home run, and six runs scored. Rogers best game came against Mars Hill where she went 3-for-3 with five stolen bases (single game program record).

Montevallo is off to its best start in program history, posting an 11-1 record, with its only loss coming to then-No. 8 West Texas A&M. The Falcons open GSC play this weekend with a road series at Mississippi College.
