DECATUR, Miss. – The No. 25 Montevallo softball team earned a, 4-3, victory over Mississippi College to close the opening weekend of conference play on Saturday.

Becca Benton hit an RBI-groundout to score Hawkins and Riley Tyree added an RBI-single to score Stiner, tying the game at three runs apiece. The Falcons continued to push, as a Kiley Christopher RBI-single later in the inning scored Makayla Peters, putting Montevallo in front, 4-3.
The Choctaws looked to respond in the bottom half of the sixth, putting a pair of runners on base with one out. The Falcons turned a huge double play to keep the Choctaws off the board heading into the seventh inning.
Still down by one-run, the Choctaws looked to rally once again in the bottom of the seventh, this time loading the bases with two outs. A fielder's choice would end the rally to secure a, 4-3, victory for Montevallo in the series finale.
