BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference released its newest set of weekly awards on Tuesday, as Taylor Rogers garnered both GSC Player and Freshman of the Week honors.
The Moody, Ala., native had a solid week, posting a .632 batting average, .789 slugging percentage, and .632 on-base percentage through five games. She totaled 12 hits, three RBIs, one double, one triple, five stolen bases, and six runs scored. Rogers made a huge impact at the top of the order, helping Montevallo go 4-1 on the week against Georgia Southwestern (2-0) and UAH (2-1). Defensively, she had a 1.000 fielding percentage with nine putouts and one assist.
On the season, Rogers now leads the GSC in stolen bases with 21, while ranking fourth in hits with 31. Rogers posts the best batting average on the team (.413).
Rogers and the Falcons return to action this weekend with a three-game road series against West Alabama.
