MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The No. 23 Montevallo softball team earned its fourth consecutive series win, after sweeping Friday's doubleheader over Valdosta State.

GAME ONE

Montevallo looked to strike first, as Taylor Rogers opened the game with a leadoff single. Ariana Pinder hit an RBI-single to bring her home, putting the Falcons ahead 1-0. Montevallo continued to push as Makayla Peters and Bentlee Stiner drew walks to load the bases, but a strikeout ended the Falcon threat.

Valdosta State looked to respond in the top of the second, loading the bases with two outs. A diving catch from Emma Hawkins ended the threat, keeping the Blazers off the board.

Valdosta State hit a pair of home runs in the next two innings to jump ahead, 3-1.

The Falcons looked to respond in the bottom of the fifth, as Ariana Pinder got things going with a one-out single. Becca Benton followed that up with her 11th home run of the season to tie the game at three runs apiece.

The Blazers got one run back in the top of the sixth to regain the lead, 4-3.

The Falcons responded once again in the bottom of the sixth, as an RBI-single from Lillie Piersol scored Peyton Hull to tie the game, 4-4.

The Blazers recorded a one-out single in the top of the seventh, but Lloyd recorded back-to-back outs, giving the Falcons the chance to walk it off in the bottom half of the inning.

After two outs opened the inning, Bentlee Stiner reached on an error to put the game winning run on first base. Riley Tyree followed that up with a double and Stiner ultimately scored on an error to secure the Montevallo, 5-4, victory.
