Falcons Open Outdoor Season Strong with 20 Individual Podium Finishes in Georgia

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – Montevallo Track and Field opened the outdoor season strong, as 20 individual podium finishes highlighted the successful day for the Falcons at the Victor Icebreaker Duals.

On the men's side, three Falcons garnered first place finishes in field events. Zane Weeks earned a top-finish in the Javelin Throw (57.88m), Christopher Johnson earned a top-finish in the Discus (54.32m), and Eran Foye Jr. earned a top-finish in the High Jump (2.01m). Montevallo saw two garner podium finishes in the Triple Jump in Jordon Harmon (second – 13.72m) and Marquis Trainer (third – 13.54m). Two more Falcon men earned podium finishes in field events, as Corey Perkins placed third in the Long Jump (7.03m) and Alonzo Abara placed third in the Pole Vault (4.37m).

The Montevallo men saw three individual podium finishes on the track, as Jeremiah Fails picked up a pair of second place finishes in the 100m (10.81) and 200m (21.31). Drew Cheslock placed second in the 800m with a time of 1:57.29.

A pair of relay teams earned first place finishes on the men's side. The 4x100m Relay team of Chason Howard, Jamell Beatty, Dwight Bellamy, and Jeremiah Fails placed first with a time of 41.44. The 4x400m Relay team of Jeremiah Fails, Dwight Bellamy, Patrick Sherill, and Drew Cheslock placed first with a time of 3:17.55.

On the women's side, three Falcons garnered first place finishes in field events. Elizabeth Hayhurst earned a top-finish in the Javelin (42.02m), Natania Nasieku earned a top-finish in the Triple Jump (11.29m), and Katie Wilkerson earned a top-finish in the Discus (40.47m). Wilkerson earned another podium finish in Georgia, placing second in the Javelin with a throw of 40.65m. Two more Falcon women earned second place finishes in field events in Kaitlyn Stephens (High Jump – 1.56m) and Leah Dendy (Pole Vault – 3.37m). A pair of Falcons earned third place finishes in field events in Farrah Hawkins (Triple Jump – 10.81m) and Makala Sims (Javelin – 39.51m).

Sarah Turner earned the lone individual first place finish for the women on the track, placing first in the 1500m with a time of 4:57.05. Ka'Mya Jackson earned a second-place finish in the 200m with a time of 25:36.

The 4x100m Relay team of Destiny Betton, Deserae Thomas, Samantha Bennett, and Khila Corrothers earned a first-place finish, clocking in at 48.05.

Montevallo Track and Field returns to action next weekend to host the annual Falcon Classic (Mar. 13-14).
