MOBILE, Ala. – The No. 16 Montevallo softball team swept a midweek doubleheader at Spring Hill (10-4, 7-1) on Tuesday afternoon.
GAME ONE
Taylor Lloyd and Mya Young split time in the circle in game one. Young earned her second win of the season, allowing one run and striking out two in four innings of work.
Montevallo struck first in the top of the second inning, as Kiley Christopher hit an RBI-single to score Bentlee Stiner. Spring Hill responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to pull ahead, 3-1.
Montevallo looked to respond in the top of the third, as Emma Hawkins doubled and Ariana Pinder walked to put a pair of runners on with no outs. Becca Benton hit an RBI-groundout to score Hawkins and Makayla Peters hit an RBI-double to score Pinder, tying the game at three runs apiece. Riley Tyree added an RBI-single that scored Peters later in the inning to put the Falcons back in front, 4-3.
The Falcons started the fourth inning strong, as Taylor Rogers hit her seventh triple of the season which set a new Montevallo program record for triples in a single season. Hawkins reached on an error which scored Rogers. Peters and Stiner added RBIs to extend the Montevallo lead to 7-3. The Badgers threatened in the bottom half of the fourth, loading the bases, but Mya Young induced a groundout to keep the Badgers off the board.
Montevallo added three more runs in the top of the sixth, as Christopher hit a sac-fly and Emma Faulk hit a two-run double, stretching the Montevallo lead to 10-3.
The Badgers added one run in the bottom of the sixth, but the Falcons ultimately held on to secure the 10-4 victory in game one.

GAME TWO
Kinsley Byrd had a strong day in the circle, pitching a one-hit complete game shutout in the second game of the day. The sophomore picked up her tenth win, while pitching her fourth complete game of the year.
Montevallo struck first once again, as Becca Benton hit an RBI sac-fly to score Ariana Pinder, giving the Falcons an early 1-0 advantage in the top of the first inning.
The Falcons added to its lead in the top of the fourth, as Makayla Peters doubled and ultimately scored on an error. Riley Tyree hit an RBI-double and Emma Hawkins added an RBI sac-fly to extend the Montevallo lead to 4-0.
Montevallo continued to push in the top of the fifth, as Peters doubled again, and Stiner brought her home with an RBI-single. Tyree hit an RBI-groundout to score Stiner, stretching the Falcon advantage to 6-0.
The Falcons added one more run in the top of the sixth, as Pinder hit an RBI-double to score Hawkins. Byrd sat the Badgers down in order in the final two innings to preserve her one-hit shutout and the Montevallo, 7-0, victory.
