Women's Lacrosse Closes Regular Season Against Lee

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's lacrosse closes the 2026 regular season with a home matchup against Lee on Saturday, April 18 at 3 p.m.

Montevallo heads into Saturday with a 3-11 overall record and a 1-3 mark in Gulf South Conference action after falling to Newberry, 10-8, on Jan. 30. Montevallo picked up tits first win of the season on Feb. 7 with a 18-4 win over Shorter. The Falcons then dropped a home meeting with Young Harris, 14-13, before falling to Emmanuel, 15-14, in overtime on Feb. 21. Montevallo then fell in back-to-back meetings with No. 6 Embry-Riddle and No. 11 Saint Leo at home before snapping the skid with 12-10 win over North Greenville on the road on March 7. Montevallo dropped a meeting with Belmont Abbey on March 14 before taking a 20-4 win over Virginia State on March 16. Montevallo then dropped a pair of road meetings at No. 8 Lynn and Palm Beach Atlantic to close nonconference action. The Falcons fell on the road at No. 24 UAH, 18-5, before falling to lander, 19-2, on April 4. Most recently, Montevallo fell to No. 1 Flagler, 23-4, on April 11.
 
Montevallo's attack averages 9.43 goals per game while posting 3.86 assists per game for a total of 13.29 points per game. The Falcons average 19.64 shots per game with 16.00 shots on goal per contest while posting an average of 9.14 draw controls per game to go along with 16.43 ground balls. Defensively, Montevallo allows 14.42 goals per game on a .409 save percentage while averaging 9.93 saves and 8.36 caused turnovers per game.
 
Ellery Shearer leads Montevallo's attack with 29 goals and five assists for a team-high 34 points while posting 21 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. Claire Withington ranks second on the team with 20 points on 22 goals and eight assists while posting eight draw controls and nine ground balls. Bridget Quayle leads the team with 18 caused turnovers while adding 23 ground balls to go along with 14 points on 11 goals and three assists. In goal, Ashlei Piazza leads the team with 104 saves for a .398 save percentage while allowing 16.65 goals per game.
 
Lee holds a 5-11 overall record and a 1-3 mark in conference play after opening the season with a 12-10 loss to converse on the road on Feb. 7. The Lady Flames added a 22-11 win over Emmanuel on Feb. 11 before falling to Wingate on Feb. 14. Lee added a 16-12 win over North Greenville on Feb. 17 before dropping a meeting with UVA Wise, 13-9, on Feb. 20. After a loss to Young Harris on Feb. 25, Lee picked up back-to-back wins over Southern Wesleyan and Lincoln Memorial on Feb. 27 and March 5, respectively. The Lady Flames fell to Saint Leo, 23-5, on March 9 before taking s 20-4 loss at Palm Beach Atlantic on March 12. Lee closed nonconference action with a 14-6 loss to Lewis at home on March 18. Lee dropped a meeting with Lander, 16-7, on March 22 to open conference play before dropping a matchup with UAH, 23-6, on March 25. Lee picked up a 17-9 win over Virginia State on March 29 before falling to Flagler on April 4. Most recently, Lee fell to Mount Olive, 21-9, on April 12.
 
Lee's attack averages 10.13 goals per game while adding 5.00 assists for a total of 15.13 points per game. The Lady Flames fire an average of 22.44 shots per game while adding an average of 17.50 shots on goal per game. Lee adds an average of 19.25 ground balls per game while posting an average of 11.44 draw controls per contest. Defensively, Lee allows 14.81 goals per game on a .428 save percentage while adding an average of 11.06 saves per game and 9.63 caused turnovers per game.
 
Taylor McGovern and Lanie Carroll lead the team with 37 goals each while McGovern posts 15 assists for 52 points while Carroll adds eight assists for 45 points. Lily Tomczik leads the team with a total of 42 draw controls and 25 caused turnovers while adding 33 ground balls to go along with 28 points on 19 goals and nine assists. Savannah Weisman leads the Lady Flames' goalkeeping corps with a total of 158 saves for a .427 save percentage and 15.48 goals allowed.
