MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo Acrobatics & Tumbling closes the regular season with a tri-meet against No. 14 Wingate and Newberry on Friday.
Montevallo holds an overall record of 4-2 and a 5-1 mark in Conference Carolinas action, due to a forfeit win over Emmanuel. The forfeit win counts towards Montevallo's conference record, but not UM's overall NCATA record.
Last time out, the Falcons defeated King 252.180-238.285 on Mar. 23. The Falcons opened the meet strong, earning season-high scores in the Compulsory (36.85) and Acro (28.20) Events, ultimately leading to the program record score of 252.180. Montevallo's best score in the Pyramid Event came in the Open heat where the Falcons tied its season-high with a score of 9.75. The Falcons best score in the Toss Event came in the 450 Salto heat, as Katie Quinn, Ally Torres, Corrine Wilcox, Payton Roach, Zoey Cooper, and Katlyn Smith recorded a 9.20. Torres also performed well in the Tumbling Open Pass, recording a season-high 8.575, while Tracie Leopold recorded a 9.125 in the Aerial Pass. The Falcons earned its second-best Team Event score of the season with a 84.63.
Wingate sits at No. 14 in the latest NCATA rankings, as the Bulldogs post a perfect 7-0 record with wins over then-No. 14 Lander, Coker, Converse, Presbyterian, King, Belmont Abbey, and Bluefield State. Last time out, the Bulldogs recorded a 252.820 in a win over Bluefield State. Wingate's highest score of the season is a 264.510 which came in a tri-meet against Coker and Converse.
Newberry sits at 1-5 in Conference Carolinas action, with the lone victory being a forfeit win over Emmanuel. Last time out, the Wolves tied its season-high score of 172.165 in a loss to then-No. 14 Lander.
