MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Behind standout performances from Taylor Rogers and Mya Young, No. 20 Montevallo secured a 2-0 victory over No. 7 AUM in the series finale on Saturday.

Berkley Mooney earned the start in the circle and was solid through two innings, allowing no runs. Mya Young pitched the final five innings, allowing no runs and two hits en route to her third win of the season.

Montevallo struck first, as Taylor Rogers opened the bottom of the first inning with her eighth home run of the season to give the Falcons an early 1-0 advantage.

Montevallo threatened in the bottom of the fifth with singles from Kiley Christopher and Riley Tyree, but the Falcons were unable to add to its lead.

The Falcons threatened once again in the bottom of the sixth, as Rogers opened the inning with a double to put a runner in scoring position with no outs. Rogers advanced to third on a wild pitch and later scored on an error to stretch the Montevallo lead to 2-0.

Montevallo held off a late push as Young sealed the 2-0 win, catching a lineout in the top of the seventh with a pair of runners on base.
