HOW IT HAPPENED

Tuskegee opened the game with a 7-2 run, capped with a layup by Kevin May. The Falcons took their first lead with a pair of free throws by junior Talan Whitaker with 15:33 remaining in the first half.

Montevallo led by as many as three points in the opening half following a layup by senior Terrell Lipkins, which gave the Falcons a 16-13 lead with 10:19 left in the half.

A layup by Lipkins with 6:03 remaining in the opening half gave the Falcons a 21-20 lead and a free throw by senior Tevin Worthy pushed the lead to 22-20 before Tuskegee ended the half with a 13-5 run to carry a 33-27 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Whitaker led the Falcons with nine points in the opening half. May and Camden Foster led the Golden Tigers with 10 points each in the first half.

The Golden Tigers took their first double-digit lead in the contest following a layup by James Eads with 18:35 remaining in the game, which gave Tuskegee a 37-27 advantage.

Montevallo responded with a 18-5 run over the next 10 minutes to get back into the game. A dunk by Whitaker with 8:56 remaining gave the Falcons a 47-46 advantage, marking their first lead in the second half.

A layup by Lipkins with 6:22 left in the contest gave Montevallo a 52-49 lead. Tuskegee responded with a 9-2 run to take a 58-54 lead on a pair of free throws by May.

The Falcons managed to trim the deficit to 61-59 on a layup by Lipkins with 2:16 remaining in the game. However, a 3-pointer by Eads from the corner with 1:10 left put the Golden Tigers back on top 64-59 late in the game and Tuskegee held off the Falcons down the stretch.

STAT OF THE GAME

In an evenly-matched contest, the only noticeable difference came from beyond the arc. Tuskegee shot just 32 percent from beyond the arc compared the Falcons' 40-percent shooting from 3-point range, but the Golden Tigers made eight attempts from beyond the arc and Montevallo made just four field goals from 3-point range.

BEYOND THE NUMBERS

Lipkins, who came into the contest leading the Falcons with an average of 18.5 points per game, scored a team-high 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting from the floor.

Junior Logan Kelley, who knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the second half, flirted with the first double-double of his career after finishing with 10 points and nine rebounds.

UP NEXT

The Falcons will travel to Carrollton, Georgia to face the University of West Georgia in a non-conference contest Saturday, Nov. 28. Tip off is set for 6:30 p.m. Eastern/5:30 p.m. Central.
