HOW IT HAPPENED
Montevallo came out with an aggressive approach in its inaugural match, scoring seven first-half goals in a 12-8 win over visiting Point in the first ever NCAA Division II lacrosse match in the state of Alabama.
The victory in the inaugural match gave head coach Frank Rogers his 100th career victory.
Junior Maddie Ellis, a transfer from Brevard College, shined in her debut as she finished one goal shy of a double hat trick with five goals in the victory.
Junior Lexie Wright added three goals, including one free-position goal. The transfer from Aurora University also recorded one assist in the win.
Freshman Jami Hudak contributed two goals and two assists. Fellow freshman Jessica Culver finished with one goal and two assists.
Sophomore Lauren Duckworth chipped in one goal and one assist.
STAT OF THE GAME
The Falcons controlled 16 draws in the contest, while the Skyhawks won just nine draws.

The Falcons will return to Wednesday, Feb. 10 with a match against Gulf South Conference rival Alabama-Huntsville at the University of Montevallo Lacrosse Stadium. First draw is set for 4:30 p.m.
