Falcons Rally In Second Half To Defeat Oglethorpe

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Falcons opened the game with a pair of goals and took a quick 2-0 lead over the Stormy Petrels.  Jami Hudak had a free position goal in the second minute to get the Falcons on the board and then Lara Schuetz scored 40 seconds later.
  • The Stormy Petrels outscored the Falcons 6-4 in the rest of the first half to tie the game up at the break.
  • Oglethorpe opened the second half with a four goal run and took a 10-6 lead.  After allowing a score in the 38th minute the Falcons defense held the Stormy Petrels scoreless the remainder of the way.
  • Montevallo scored seven unanswered goals to erase the four goal deficit.  The tying goal was scored in the 54th minute by Jessica Culver on a free position shot.  Schuetz put the Falcons ahead with a goal that was assisted by Culver in the 55th minute. 
  • Samantha Farrell capped off the scoring for the Falcons with a goal with only 25 seconds left to play when Oglethorpe pulled their goalie and left the net wide open.

STAT OF THE GAME

Jo Northen got the start in goal for the Falcons and saved 20 shots in today's victory to earn her first win of the season.

UP NEXT

The Falcons hit the road for a three game road stint that starts with Davis & Elkins on April 2.  The first draw is scheduled for 1:00pm.
