Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's lacrosse team fell on the road at UAH 19-6 in a Gulf South Conference match April 13.
Six different players tallied a goal for the Falcons, who fell to 8-7 overall and 3-4 in Gulf South Conference play.
Sophomore Meghan Shea, junior Georgi Griffin, freshman Nicole Pahnke, sophomore Alyssa Kaminski, freshman Caleigh Spoon and freshman Natalie Dicken each scored a goal in the contest. Pahnke, the leading scorer nationally in NCAA Division II, scored her 73rd goal of the season.
Sophomore Janey Johnson and Shea registered one assist each.
Junior Irfana Ahmed compiled 11 saves, while freshman Kay Tirrell relieved the Falcons' goalkeeper and recorded three saves.
KEY GOALS
1st (24:21) | Karissa Glover scored an unassisted goal to give the Chargers an early 3-0 lead.
1st (23:23) | The Falcons finally got on the scoreboard when freshman Nicole Pahnke scored a goal off an assist from sophomore Janey Johnson to trim the deficit to 3-1.
1st (15:18) | UAH extended its lead to 6-1 following a goal by Glover off an assist from Nicole Federovitch.
1st (00:45) | Junior Georgi Griffin scored an unassisted goal with 45 seconds remaining in the first half, but the Falcons still trailed 10-4 heading into the break.
2nd (12:47) | Freshman Caleigh Spoon scored the Falcons' final goal in the match off an assist from sophomore Meghan Shea.
GAME NOTES
- UAH held a 40-11 advantage in shots attempted in the match, including a 33-9 edge in shots on goal.
- The Falcons controlled 15 draws in the match compared to the 11 draws controlled by the Chargers.
- UAH successfully cleared all 16 attempts in the contest, while 23 turnovers in the contest were a big part of the Falcons converting only 8-of-15 clear attempts.
