Gonzales Sets PR, Glass Makes Second Appearance in NCAA Championship

SACRAMENTO, Calif.
- University of Montevallo senior Taylor Gonzales closed her collegiate cross country career with a personal-best 6K time at the NCAA DII Women's Cross Country National Championship. 
Gonzales completed the 6K race at Arcade Creek Cross Country Course in a time of 21:34.3 to finish 91st among 260 runners. She shaved 34 seconds off her fifth-place qualifying time (22:08.4) from the DII South Region Championships two weeks prior. Gonzales finished third among Gulf South Conference runners and fourth among South Region runners. 
Justine Glass also competed for Montevallo, making her second-straight trip to the national championships. Glass posted a time of 22:32.2 to finish 179th. The Barrie (Ontario), Canada native improved nearly three minutes from her 2018 time (25:13.8) at the national championships in Pittsburgh. 
Glass earned her second NCAA bid after finishing third in the NCAA Division II South Region on Nov. 9 in a time of 21:48.53. She was also fourth at the Gulf South Conference Championships in October. 
This is the ninth-straight year Montevallo has had an individual or team compete in the NCAA Championships. 
Adams State won the national championship with the lowest points (23) in NCAA DII Championship history, tying the record set in 1999. Grand Valley State followed in second place, then Colorado Mines and Western Colorado.
Lee University finished 13th to lead teams from the South Region. 
Celine Ritter was the top Gulf South Conference runner, finishing 22nd with a time of 20:49.8. Chloe Flora (20:59.9) was 40th.
