LAKELAND, Fla. – The University of Montevallo men's and women's cross-country teams are set to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division II South Regional Championship on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Holloway Park in Lakeland, Florida.
The women's 6K race will begin at 7:40 a.m. Eastern, followed by the men's 10K at 8:55 a.m. Eastern. The meet features top programs from across the South Region, including representatives from the Gulf South Conference, Sunshine State Conference, and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, with team and individual qualifiers advancing to the NCAA Division II National Championships.
Montevallo Men
Coming off a strong showing at the Gulf South Conference Championship, where the Falcons finished seventh featuring plenty personal bests, the Montevallo men enter the regional meet with confidence and momentum.
Freshman standout
Zak Ferguson continued his freshman campaign at conference, placing sixth overall with a career best time of 24:13.4, marking the second-fastest 8K in Montevallo history and earning top freshman honors. Ferguson will look to extend his success to the 10K distance for the first time this season.
Behind him,
Joshua Howard,
Ryan Cox, and
Estan Wrights each recorded personal bests at the GSC Conference Championship, while
Zac Lamb rounded out the scoring five. The Falcons' depth and improvement have positioned them well to take on the extended 10K challenge and compete among the region's best.
Montevallo Women
The Montevallo women also head into regionals after finishing ninth in the GSC Championship and seeing every runner achieve a personal best.
Sophomore
Sable George led the Falcons with a standout 21
st place finish in 21:59.6, the fastest 6K of her collegiate career.
Ava Taylor and
Morgan Remley continued their consistent scoring roles, while
Breanna Aultman and
Olivia Blackmon round out the scoring five helping the team secure its top 10 conference finish.
With momentum building, the Falcons look to cap their postseason on a high note in Lakeland, competing for a strong regional placement against elite NCAA South Region Competition.
