NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Montevallo women's cross country team is ranked in the preseason NCAA Division II South Region rankings released Aug. 27 by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Montevallo women's cross country team is ranked No. 8 in the initial region rankings. The Falcons are one of four Gulf South Conference women's teams ranked in the region.

Lee University is the top-ranked team in the South Region women's rankings. Union University is ranked No. 3 in the region rankings, while UAH is ranked No. 6.

The Falcons will open their 2019 season Saturday, Sept. 7 at home in the Falcon Classic.
