'We never quit:' Montevallo Lacrosse plays with heart in loss to Keiser

Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala - The University of Montevallo women's lacrosse team fell to the Keiser University Seahawks who is currently the #4 ranked team in the nation in NAIA.  Despite the 16-8 score the Falcons gave everything they had in a hard fought battle against a talented team.


Montevallo started the game early scoring on their first possession 1:23 into the game on a goal from Junior Sadie Bopst.   Keiser jumped on the Falcons midway toward the end of the first half scoring three goals to take a 6-4 lead into halftime. 


In the second half Keiser continued their scoring spree outscoring the Falcons 9-3 leading the Seahawks to victory.  Freshman Jodi Morawiec led the Falcons scoring three out of the teams eight goals along with Senior Janey Johnson who dished out three assists.  Sophomore Anja Kuys battled for eight groundballs which tied for the most in the game. 

 "One thing about our team is we never quit" Coach Adrianna Piontek spoke on the effort of her squad who fought Keiser until the clock hit 00:00. 
 
NEXT UP: The Falcons will be taking on the Lewis University Flyers in Huntsville, Ala Sunday Feb. 16 at 1:00 PM.
