CLINTON, MISS. - The Montevallo women's cross country team placed fifth in the 2021 GSC Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning. The 5K race featured 106 runners and one nationally ranked team.
Sophomore
Amber Fisher was the top finisher, placing 25th with a time of 19:08.63. Not far behind her was
Caroline Hendon, who crossed the line 30th with a time of 19:22.12. The rest of the Falcons scoring flock soared across in the top 50 as
Courtney Keeler was 32nd (19:25.88),
Ana Watters 39th (19:45.04), and
Natalie Warner 48th (19:58.65).
Falcons coach
Julia Marquardt was pleased with the outcome of the race. "It was a tough race for them and I was happy with the results," she commented. "We will keep improving and look forward to Regionals in a couple of weeks."
The next race for the Falcons will be at the NCAA Division II South Region Championship in St. Leo, Fla. on November 6th.
