MONTEVALLO - The University of Montevallo swim team had an all-around great performance for their second home swim meet on Saturday morning. The Falcons put on great performances and showed off what they are capable of in many events today against Millsaps College!
The men's team topped the visitors 187-124, while the women's team won 185-109. The men's improved to 2-0 in head-to-head competition, while the ladies evened their record at 1-1.
First event was the women's 200-yard medley relay. Montevallo had three teams who placed 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the event. The team placing 2nd had an overall time of 1:59:52.
Cypris Wilkinson posted a time of 31.73 for the first leg.
Elysia Addison posted a time of 32.62 in the second leg, while
Mallory Cook swam a 28.88 leg number three, and
Olivia Vickers anchored with the fastest time of 26.29. All four swimmers are freshmen.
The Men's Medley Relay team had three Falcon teams in the event placing 2nd, 3rd, and 4th! The team placing 2nd consisted of four swimmers starting off with
Spencer Hoyt (Jr) with a time of 28.65. Second leg was
Brandon Bell (Jr) (29.02),
Ergi Veli (Jr) (25.18), and Sam Rix (Jr) (24.59) with the fastest leg!
After Relays were completed, the 200-yard freestyle was up next! For the Women's side, we had three falcons that competed in the event. Freshman
Cypris Wilkinson led the Falcons and came 1st overall with a time of 2:07:40!
Madison Burnum (So) followed behind Cypris placing 3rd overall with a time of 2:12:79 and freshman
Isabel Harris (6th) (2:22:04).
On the Men's side, Falcon's will go 1st, 2nd, and 3rd! Junior
Nicolas Ioannides placed first overall for the Falcons with a time of 1:49:61 in the 200 freestyles! Following Nicolas was Sophomore Ray Asamkis placing 2nd with a time of 1:52:78 and 3rd place finisher
Thom Naccarato (Jr) (1:54:65).
The 50-yard backstroke had two Falcon Lady swimmers placing 1st and 2nd overall! Out of the Falcon swimmers, junior
Carlee Muncher would come 1st overall in the event with a time of 30.02! Following behind Carlee would be freshman
Beth Balent with a time of 31.83!
On the men's side of the 50-yard Backstroke had three swimmers place in the top five at 2nd, 4th, and 5th overall in the event! Sophomore
Kevin Watkins would come 1st for the falcons with a time of 26.31. The next Falcon following Kevin was junior Josh Sauer with a time of 28.73 and
Simon Botton (Sr) (33.46).
Amanda Ware would place 1st for the Falcons and the event in the Women's 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.70. Other Falcons following Amanda are Freshman
Emily Sauer placing 2nd with a time of 1:10.29 and junior
Shayla Whaley (Jr) (4th) (1:18:32).
Men would have two swimmers placing 1st and 2nd in the event! Sophomore
Jacob Rubin would place 1st overall with a time of 52.24 and
Parker Bell (Jr) (55.58).
Women's 50-yard freestyle had three Falcons finishing in the top five. Those top five swimmers would be sophomore
Danielle Davis (1st) (26.45), freshman
Isabel Harris (3rd) (27.46), and sophomore
Erica Mills (5th) (28.62).
The men would follow up behind them with three Falcons finishing in the top five. The first Falcon finisher was
Thom Naccarato placing 2nd with a time of 22.36. The next Falcon was
Will Mahone finishing 3rd with a time of 22.69 and junior
Trent Mobley (4th) (24.08).
The 100 Yard Freestyle would have three Falcons finishing in the top five. Montevallo's top finisher was sophomore
Danielle Davis coming in first overall in the event with a time of 58.42. Following Danielle would be
Carlee Muncher (2nd) (58.80), and sophomore
Madison Burnum (1:00.38).
The men's side would have guys finishing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the event. The Falcon swimmer coming in first for the guys would be junior
Will Mahone with a time of 48.82. The next UM finishers were
Thom Naccarato (50.20) and
Trent Mobley (53.57).
Freshman
Beth Balent would come 2nd overall in the Women's 100-yard Backstroke with a time of 1:07.67. The next Falcon behind Balent would be
Amanda Ware (3rd) (1:09.38) and
Shelby Narramore (5th) (1:11.26).
Connor Daigle finished first with a time of 57.16 with
Kevin Watkins taking second with a time of 57.48.
Getting into the 500 yard freestyle, Montevallo would have three individual swimmers on the womens side battling it out against Millsaps. Coming first in the event would be
Emily Sauer (Fr) with a quick time of 5:42.19. Following behind Emily was
Cypris Wilkinson (Fr) with a time of 5:51:44. The next Falcon would be Sophomore
Shelby Narramore (4th) (6:12:84).
The men's side would have Sophomore
Jacob Rubin leading the Falcons with a 1st overall finish in the event with a time of 5:00.42. The next Falcons to hit the time pad would be
Kevin Watkins (2nd) (5:31.03) and
Simon Botton (3rd) (5:37.14).
Last but not least was the 200 yard Freestyle Relay. On the women's side, the University of Montevallo A team would finish 1st overall with an impressive time of 1:46.75. The team's first leg would start off with Freshman
Cypris Wilkinson (26.94),
Olivia Vickers (Fr) (26.21),
Mallory Cook (Fr) (27.35), and
Elysia Addison (Fr) (26.25). The men's side would have three teams in the event with the B team would taking 1st. The first leg starting them off would be

Head Coach
Aaron Mahaney had a few words to say after the meet: " I thought the team did really well after coming off some heavy training the last 2 weeks. We still need to work on coming off the walls, underwater, and finishing, but that will come together as the season progresses."
The next event will be at the Delta State Invite on Saturday December, 11th.
