BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference has tabbed track and field's Madelyn Bright as its Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

Bright has had a strong sophomore campaign for the Falcons.  She set a UM record in the high jump twice this year. Once at the Samford Invite, and most recently at the KMS Invite where she landed a 1.65m mark, setting the top mark in the GSC.

Bright's performance ranks tied for 21st in the country and is just .02m away from the NCAA provisional standard. This is the first time in her career that Bright has won this award. She was named GSC Freshman of the Week once in 2019-20.
