MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo Track and Field returns to action this weekend, competing in the West Alabama Invitational on Saturday.
Montevallo last saw action at the Troy Doc Anderson Invitational and Multi where the Falcons garnered 14 individual podium finishes and broke four school records.
Katie Wilkerson led the way with three podium finishes in Troy, placing first in the Javelin (40.65m) and Discus (38.39m), while placing second in the Shot Put (12.12m). Cesleigh Martin placed first in Shot Put (12.12m) and third in Discus (34.38m). Khila Corrothers led the way on the track, setting a school record in the 100m with a time of 12.21. Hallie Harrell performed well in the Heptathlon, placing sixth with a point total of 4331.
On the men's side, Caleb Newell was named GSC Field Athlete of the Week after earning three top-six finishes and setting a school record in the Shot Put. Newell placed second in the Shot Put (15.80m) and third in Hammer (47.02m). Christopher Johnson set a school record in the Hammer with a throw of 51.13m. Jeremiah Fails led the way on the track, setting a school record in the 100m with a time of 10.46. The Falcons also saw a pair of first-place finishes in the jumps, as Alonzo Abara placed first in the Pole Vault (4.50m) and Eran Foye Jr. placed first in High Jump (1.95).
Action on Saturday is set to start at 8:00 a.m. CST.
