ATLANTA, Ga. – Montevallo Track and Field opened the Emory Spring Break Classic with five podium finishes on Friday.
Katie Wilkerson earned the lone individual top-finish for Montevallo, placing first in the Javelin with a throw of 40.07m. Three other Falcons earned top-seven finishes in the Javelin including Elizabeth Hayhurst (fourth – 34.48m), Macey Denton (sixth – 33.56m), and Emma Michael (33.08m).
Natania Nasieku garnered a podium finish, placing third in the Triple Jump with a distance of 11.49m. Montevallo earned two more top-seven finishes in the field, as Saskia Rhind finished sixth in the High Jump (1.50m) and Deserae Thomas finished seventh in the Triple Jump (11.05m).
Sarah Turner led the way for the women on the track, placing sixth in the 1500m with a time of 4:50.98.
Zane Weeks earned the highest individual finish on the men's side, placing second in the Javelin with a throw of 58.10m. Christopher Johnson earned a top-five finish, placing fifth in the Hammer with a throw of 49.86m.
Jeremiah Fails led the way for the men on the track, placing third in the 200m with a time of 21.32. Fails, Dwight Bellamy, Patrick Sherrill, and Drew Cheslock earned a first-place finish in the 4x400m Relay, clocking in at 3:15.44 to earn the top-finish.
Eran Foye Jr. and Jordon Harmon led the way for the men in the jumps, tying for eighth in the High Jump with identical jumps of 1.85m.
The Falcons are back for day two of the Emory Spring Break Classic on Saturday.
