MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo women's cross country team notched a top-10 placement as the second-highest Div. II team at the Blazer Classic with a ninth-place finish on Friday morning.
 
"This was our first 6k of the season and we are pleased with the results even though we weren't at full strength," said Head Coach Tommy Barksdale. "We are excited with the progression and ready for the rest of the season."
 
Veteran runner Courtney Keeler was the Falcons' top finisher with a time of 23:01.00 for 35th in a field packed with Division I competition. Caroline Hendon and Kiarra Walters took back-to-back placements with times of 23:29.40 (47th) and 23:29.60 (48th), respectively. Sarah Turner (24:43.50) and Reagan Oliver (24:56.30) rounded out the scoring for Montevallo.
 
Montevallo will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 22 in Huntsville, Ala. at the UAH Div. II Festival Year Showcase in the final race before the GSC Championship on Nov. 5.
