NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has released the third 2022 South Region poll with the Falcons holding seventh.
 
"We are happy to still be ranked seventh but our goal is to move up," said Head Coach Tommy Barksdale.
 
Montevallo opened the season with an eighth-place preseason ranking before climbing to sixth after two-consecutive second-place finishes at the UNA Invitational and the Falcon Classic. The Falcons competed in a field full of Division I competition over the weekend at the Greater Louisville Classic where the team earned a 27th-place finish.
 
Veteran runner Joe Leventry has been the first Falcon to finish every race this season with three-straight top-10 placements.
 
The Falcons will take to the course again on Oct. 14 as the team races in the Blazer Classic hosted by the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
