LAKELAND, Fla. – Montevallo women's cross country posted a 13
th-place finish at the 2022 NCAA South Region Championship hosted by Florida Southern, Saturday morning.
"The women finished 13th overall led by seniors
Kiarra Walters and
Courtney Keeler," said Associate Head Coach
Julia Marquardt. "We were able to move up within the conference vs conference championships, so that's always a good thing. We're proud to finish the season off with some fight even though we've battled illness and injury down the stretch."
Walters posted top finish for Montevallo with a 60
th-place time of 23:30.7 followed closely behind by Keeler with a 63
rd-place mark of 23:37.6. Natalie Warner (82
nd) and
Amber Fisher (89
th) were third and fourth for the Falcons with times of 24:27.7 and 24:53.4, respectively. Sarah Turner (93
rd) rounded out the scoring for Montevallo with a time of 25:05.0.
The Falcons' season comes to a close with four top-10 finishes over the team's seven meets. Montevallo posted two second-place finishes at the North Alabama Invitational and the Falcon Classic. The Falcons also performed well against Div. I competition with a ninth-place finish at the Blazer Classic.
