Leventry Set to Compete for NCAA Cross Country National Title

SEATTLE, Wa. – Graduate runner Joe Leventry is set to run in his second-consecutive Div. II NCAA Cross Country National Championship on Friday, Dec. 2 at 12 p.m.

The graduate student earned the right to compete for the national crown after a 4th-place finish at the South Region Championship with a time of 30:54.1 and a spot on the South Region's All-Region team. Leventry also earned First Team All-GSC honors after posting a 9th-place time of 24:11.40 at the 2022 GSC Championship.

Leventry will be one of 344 runners from 57 teams across the country competing in the 10K event. The graduate student is one of 28 runners that hail from the GSC and one of just 25 individual runners set to run for the national title.

"Joe has worked hard all year for this opportunity," said Head Coach Tommy Barksdale. "His relentlessness to do the small things has paved the way for him to compete at this level. He is excited and ready. It will be great to see all of Joe's hard work pay off."

A season ago, Leventry posted a 172nd finish at the 2021 National Championship with a time of 33:28.8 down in Saint Leo, Fla. as he became the first Montevallo Men's Cross Country runner to compete on the national stage.
