CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State Christmas Invitational continued Sunday, with the University of Montevallo men's and women's swim teams breaking four more school records.
Senior
Jacob Rubin opened day two of the meet with a record-breaking finish in the 50-yard free. Rubin posted a seventh-place finish with his time of 20.49. His time is an NCAA B cut mark.
After setting a record Saturday in the first leg of the women's 800 free relay, freshman
Tahlia Micallef continued her success with a school record 2:07.25 in the 200-individual medley for a second-place finish.
Both the women and men's squads set records in the 200-yard freestyle relays. The women's squad, comprised of Micallef, Dani Davis,
Elysia Addison and
Lexi Cardwell, posted a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:39.40. The men's team, made up of Rubin,
Will Mahone,
Thom Naccarato and
Aleksei Kolesnikov, placed fourth with a time of 1:23.64.
At the end of the day two the women sit in fourth place over all with 452 points and the men are currently in fourth as well, with 513.5 total points.
"Being able to hit best times and school records at this point in the season puts us in an amazing spot for the conference championships in February," said Head Coach
Aaron Mahaney.
