BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Montevallo men's track and field's Gaines Myrick has been named the Gulf South Conference Field Athlete of the Week while teammate Brayden Marlowe was named GSC Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference office, Wednesday.
 
Myrick, a graduate thrower, earned one of the top individual placements for the Falcons after posting a sixth-place finish in the weight throw in a field packed with Div. I competition. Myrick's weight throw traveled a distance of 15.77m at the Birmingham Southern College Icebreaker on Dec. 2.

 
Marlowe, a freshman sprinter, just barely missed the finals for the 60-meter hurdles at the BSC Icebreaker. The freshman took home a 12^th-place finish in the event's prelims with a time of 8.69 seconds.

 
Myrick, Marlowe and the rest of the Falcons will head back to the Birmingham Crossplex on January, 15^th in the Emory Crossplex Showdown.
