Late three-pointer Sinks Falcons at Mississippi College, 63-61

Box Score CLINTON, Miss. -- The Montevallo men's basketball team had its four game winning streak snapped in heartbreaking fashion on Thursday night when a 3-pointer in the closing seconds handed Mississippi College a 63-61 win over the Falcons. The loss denied the Falcons a chance to finally get to .500 as they fell to 12-14 overall and 10-8 in the Gulf South Conference. UM also slipped down a spot in the standings into a virtual tie for sixth place with Delta State and Alabama-Huntsville who both have eight losses in conference play. Mississippi College, on the other hand played the roll of spoiler as they won't be punching a ticket to the GSC tournament with a 4-12 conference, but did significant damage to the Falcons.

A 3-pointer by Devin Carter gave the home team there first lead since 17-16 midway through the first half.

McNeil knotted the score at 57-all with a 3-pointer, then Bertolette hit a pair freethrows with less than a minute left to give the Falcons a two point lead. The game seesawed back into the Falcons favor on two freethrows by Jason King with 22 seconds left at 61-60. However, it set the stage for the heartbreaking drama that would unfold.
