Two UM records are set at final meet before GSC Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- With the Gulf South Conference Track & Field Championships coming up the first weekend in May, the Montevallo track and field teams got a chance to sharpen up with one final event on the schedule, competing at the UAB Green and Gold Invitational and Multi over the weekend.

In the women's competition, school records were set by Skylar Suggitt in the pole vault and Anyla Shipman in discus. Suggitt cleared a UM record height of 3.56m in the pole vault, Shipman had a distance of 40.31m in the discus. Shipman was also a top performer in the hammer throw, finishing fourth with a toss of 47.19m.

Natalie Warner was also a top performer for the Falcons, finishing fourth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 12:30.01.

"We had a very solid meet," said Montevallo track and field coach Tommy Barksdale. "We had improvements across the board. We have a few loose ends to tie up before the conference championships."
