BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -  The Gulf South Conference announced that Montevallo was voted fourth in the 2022 Men's Cross Country Preseason Poll, Thursday.
 
The Falcons earned a fourth-place finish in the 2021 GSC Championship behind solid performances from Joe Leventry, Joseph Pitard, Bill Archer, and Drew Roberts. UM also made an appearance in the South Region Championship while Leventry qualified for the 2021 NCAA National Championship.
 
"It's great to be ranked fourth in the preseason polls," said Head Coach Tommy Barksdale. "The men have worked hard to be in the top echelon of the conference and only want more. We return four of our top five runners from last season. The men are excited to get to the first meet!"
 
Montevallo will begin the 2022 season on the road in Florence, Ala. on Sept. 10, for a race at the University of North Alabama. The Falcons will host the annual Falcon Classic on September 16 while the 2022 GSC Championship comes to Montevallo on Nov. 5.
