NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has released the first regular season regional rankings with Montevallo women's cross country coming in as tenth in the South Region.
"Having the women ranked in the top 10 is great," said Head Coach
Tommy Barksdale. "The ladies know the history of our program and are wanting to get back to what we were known for. This is just a testament to all the hard work they have been putting in. We want to keep climbing the ladder."
In the preseason poll, the Falcons ranked tenth when the poll was released on August 29. The team participated in its first contest of the season on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the UNA Invitational in Florence, Ala. Montevallo posted a second-place team finish with
Courtney Keeler as the highest-finishing Falcon with a sixth-place time of 18:53.92.
The Falcons will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 16 at 8:45 a.m. as the team runs in the annual Falcon Classic in Montevallo, Ala.
