Box Score MONTEVALLO, ALA. - The University of Montevallo women's lacrosse team's Florida road trip starts with a loss to Embry-Riddle.
The game started with an Embry-Riddle goal. This score was quickly matched by
Kiley Shea with 12:05 in to go in the first period. Five unanswered goals by the Eagles pushed them ahead. With 1:47 to go,
Anja Kuys got into the action, scoring with an assist from
Mikaela Barbieri. This was quickly followed by Shea's second goal of the game with 0:08 left on the clock. These late goals kept the score close at 3-6.
Two goals from the Eagles were scored before Shea added her third goal of the half with an assist from Kuys at the 10:43 mark. Another two Embry-Riddle goals were added to their total before Shea's fourth goal of the half with 7:41 to play. One more goal for Embry-Riddle before heading to half putting the score at 5-11.
The third quarter started when Shea and Kuys hooked up again for Shea's fifth goal, only 0:58 after the half.
Jenna Piazza added the last goal of the quarter for the Falcons with 12:24 remaining, putting the Eagles within striking distance 7-11. Unfortunately, the falcons the Embry-Riddle offense wouldn't slow down and rattled off four straight goals to end the period.
The last period started out slow, with neither team scoring for the first six minutes. Barbieri wanted to change that as she scored back to back goals at the 8:48 and 5:17 marks, with assists from
Chloe Norman, and
Anja Kuys. The Eagles dropped in one more, finalizing the score at 9-16.
