Rome, Ga. - The University of Montevallo Track and Field team travelled to Berry University to compete in a dual meet vs. Augusta University.
The Falcons had a very balanced scoring output on both the men's and women's sides between the throws, jumps, sprints, and distance crews.
The men's jumpers once again had a day as
Braxton Sanford jumped an outdoor school record of 4.65 meters in the pole vault, finishing second for Montevallo.
Isaiah Gabriel and
Isaiah Walton both added points in the high jump, placing third and fifth, respectively. The triple jumpers,
Patrick Sherrill,
Gabe Gamble, and
Esclavon Prewitt, finished second, third and fourth, respectively.
Leah Dendy led the Falcons' female jumpers with a first-place jump of 3.20 meters in the pole vault.
Zauren Burton and
Alyssa Perez took second and third in the high jump with leaps of 1.51 and 1.46-meters, respectively.
The men's sprints were led by a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles from Brayden Marlow (15.21), and
Julian Fore who placed third in the 400-meter dash (48.87).
Patrick Sherrill also placed in the 400, finishing 7th.
Micah Flores finished 8th in the 400-meter hurdles, while Aleister Self added a 9th place finish in the 110-meter hurdles.
The women's sprints were highlighted by three top-10 finishes in the 100-meter dash.
Sydney Goode placed 5th with a time of 12.81, followed by and 8th place finish from
Destiny Betton, and a 9th place finish from Burton.
Sarah Turner finished 8th in the 400-meter dash followed by
Rachel Smith in 10th.
Audriana Blakely added an 7th place and 9th place finish in the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles to round out the sprints.
The men's distance team was led by Joseph Leventry's first-place finish in the 1500-meter race with a time of 3:55.12.
Jacob Cofield finished 5th in the 800-meter run with a 1:58.22.
The women's distance runners were led by
Amber Fisher who finished first in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:55.88 and a second-place finish in the 800-meter run at 2:23.56.
Sarah Turner added a 4th place finish in the 800 as well.
The men's throws squad handled business as Flores added a first-place finish in the javelin with a mark of 53.25-meters. Eric Myrick finished fourth and
Braxton Sanford was right behind in 5th place. Myrick also had a thidrd place finish in the hammer throw, and fourth place finish in the discus throw.
Peyton Higgins added a 10th place finish in the shot put.
The women's throwers were led by
Nautica Swain, who finished second in the javelin with a throw of 36.47-meters.
Shelby Sellers finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 33.64-meters and seventh in the hammer throw with a 38.26-meter throw.
Alshaquala Williams added a ninth place finish in the shot put.
Coach Barksdale stated, "We have a lot to look forward to this outdoor season. We can't wait to see the progress as we head into our home meet in two weeks."
