PEMBROKE, N.C. – The University of Montevallo baseball team is ranked second in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association South Region poll for the fourth consecutive week, Monday, and garnered three first-place votes.
The Falcons debuted in the preseason poll at seven, moved up to two in the Feb. 13 rankings and remains in that position for the fourth consecutive week.
Montevallo remains at No. 2 and picks up a couple of first-place votes in the South Region poll this week after defeating North Georgia 12-7, and winning the series against UAH, 2-1.
With a 15-2 start to the year, the Falcons rank ahead of West Georgia (3), Valdosta State (4), and West Florida (8) from the Gulf South Conference. Shorter is receiving votes.
The Falcons sit one spot behind Tampa, from the Sunshine State Conference, who received nine seven-place votes. Montevallo was the only other team to garner a first-place vote with three.
The season continues as the No.8 ranked Falcons in the NCBWA Top-25 travel to Columbus, Georgia on Wednesday, Mar. 8, to face No. 6 Columbus State.
